Octopus-design hair clips are very comfortable.

Glad Rags reuseable cotton menstural pads are also very comfortable, effective, and less nasty than one might think. ( Cut for menstruation )

Reduced-fat cheezits are not bad. Not quite the same, but not bad.

Zappos.com is not a cheap way to buy shoes, but they have a wide selection and free shipping (for returns too), so if you're looking for something very specific, particularly sandals, and have been steeling yourself for a trip to the mall, it's great.

Hampton Inn hotels have really nice beds. The breakfast buffet is pretty good, too.

Frosted Flakes, however, are not all that I remember from my childhood. Chemical sweetener, blech.

It has, thanks be to God, cooled off from the ugly humid mess of Tuesday, but even so I decreed it to be Summer Movie Time and so breadandroses and I went to see the new Indiana Jones. I really enjoyed it. I was hoping it would be more witty, but I really enjoyed it. I had popcorn and a soda and Marion Ravenwood - it was awesome.

HOWEVER. There were some choice sillinesses.

Saturday night breadandroses and the Badgers and I finished up s2 of Buffy and started s3, and then last night breadandroses and I started watching the pilot miniseries of the new Battlestar Galactica. HOLY WEEKEND OF DOWNER TELEVISION, BATMAN. ( Cut for basic BSG spoilers )

In other news, my bedroom appears to have eaten a copy of Devil In The White City, possibly in an attempt to keep me from acquiring additional creepy mental furniture. Over the weekend I read Ruth Reischl's Garlic and Sapphires, her memoir of being the restaurant critic at the New York Times. It's a funny and emotionally resonant exploration of food, memory, and (kinda) the sociology of restaurants. Also, there are recipes.
